Culture eats strategy for break fasT - Peter Drucker

I'm Emily Gillcrist, a tech ethicist and cultural strategist. I research, create, teach, and consult. |
I draw cultural insight from the diverse work I do:
Founding: My edtech startup, Vital Thought, promotes engaged multimodal analysis, ethical thinking, cultural and digital literacy, and pragmatic strategizing in our unprecedented historical moment. Platform is forthcoming; beta test course enrollment opens Spring 2023. Researching: I obsessively track and synthesize insights that span science & technology studies, cognitive science, sustainability, consciousness studies, existential phenomenology, and psychoanalytic deconstruction, as well as related market trends, the responsible tech ecosystem, art & design, activism, alt economies, media, material and experiential culture and subculture on and off the internet. Writing: As a PhD Candidate in Cultural Analysis & Theory, I'm currently writing my dissertation analyzing the explosion of technoindustrial power in relation to the climate crisis. Art Making: Painting is a key tool I use to cultivate and hone concentration, emotional intelligence, and creative thinking. My visual work is influenced by themes in my research: materiality, vitality, and the tension of the nature/culture relation. My practice also keeps me plugged in to creator communities in NYC. Consulting: I am available for consulting with executive, HR, and marketing teams to help identify, avoid, and resolve problems. Culture is a matter of ethics, liability, pr, retention, efficiency, impact, and longevity. Get to know your blind spots. I can help you assess and optimize your culture and cultural strategy, or contribute niche insight to a special project. Contact me for a free consultation. |
